USA TODAY Travel and the Taste of Vail are excited to kick off the 2014 Taste of Vail with the Experience Food and Wine Debut of the Rose. The Taste of Vail will be one of the first venues in 2014 for you to experience the just being released 2013 Rosés.

Rosé wine is the liquid component of the much-celebrated lifestyle of Mediterranean France. However, it has not enjoyed similar recognition in the US until quite recently.

Many people assume that Rosés are going to be sweet wines, most likely due to the fact that Rosé shares its same vibrant pink color with the now faded from popularity sweet White Zinfandel.

As a category, Rosé wines embrace an immense diversity of styles and flavors, especially if you include sparkling Rosés. From semi-sweet to off-dry to bone-dry (very dry), they're startlingly refreshing and immensely seductive. "Gulpable" if you will. Add to that they're extremely versatile with food and pair well with an astounding variety of cuisines.

Here's a chance to experience the charmingly unexpected pleasures of pink wine. If you're not familiar with the delights of Rosé, prepare to be seduced.
